Japan’s Updated It’s COVID Travel Rules – Here’s What You Need To Know
Three years after the emergence of the COVID 19 virus, the world is still reeling from the repercussions and learning how to live with the virus. Many countries have imposed restrictions and rules that have oscillated in their severity since January 2020, but most nations have relaxed their rules. As of December 2022, Japan has significantly decreased its rules, meaning that the Hotel Prince Shinagawa can welcome in a larger number of guests from overseas.
Whilst many rules have been relaxed, Japan and the Sunshine City Prince Hotel still exercise caution when it comes to keeping visitors and guests safe. This blog will explore some of the ways that Japan’s rules have recently changed, providing visitors with everything they need to know to visit the country safely and responsibly.
Travelling To Japan
After years of tight regulations, Japan has finally opened its borders to foreign visitors. The removal of the entry cap on foreign arrivals marks a new stage in Japan’s post-COVID regulations and means that tourists from more than 70 countries can now visit without a visa for up to 90 days. This relaxing of restrictions has been in effect in the country since October 11th, meaning that guests of Grand Prince Hotel in Takanawa can stay without being part of a package holiday. In the past these package tours were heavily regulated by agencies and had to include an accompanying Japanese guide.
Vaccination Requirements
However, there are still some rules in place to ensure that
visitors remain safe during their stay at accommodation like the Prince Hotel. For all those who have received the COVID vaccine, a valid
vaccination certificate is required by law to enter the country. This can be in
paper or digital form and includes the Comirnaty/Pfizer, Vaxzevria/AstraZeneca,
Moderna/Moderna, Vaccine/Janssen, COVEXIN/Bharat Biotech, Nuvaxovid/Novavax
combinations of double vaccinations or boosters. The certificate must prove
that the traveller has received 3 doses of the accepted vaccines or
combinations.
Vaccination
Certificates
If you haven’t had the COVID vaccine, then hope is not lost
for your stay at the Prince Hotel
Tokyo. Unvaccinated
guests can enjoy a stay in Japan if they have had a PCR test at a maximum of 72
hours before boarding their flight that has shown a negative result. The proof
must come in the form of a certificate written in the English language.
Both unvaccinated and vaccinated travellers must also fill
out an online health questionnaire. Upon completing the questionnaire,
potential visitors will be allowed access to the QR code, from which you can
upload your test result or vaccination certificate.
General Safety Advice
Tourists in Japan are still expected to maintain some
broader measures to limit the effect and spread of coronavirus in Japan. This
includes washing hands for at least 20 seconds with alcohol based hand
sanitiser, wearing face masks in crowded public spaces and maintaining social
distance with people outside of your party whenever possible. These rules are
loose, but are advised for foreign visitors in most countries.
