Sengokuhara Yudate Shishi-mai (lion dance)

The Sengokuhara Yudate Shishi-mai (lion dance) has been held every year on March 27th since the Edo period.
It is one of Kanagawa Prefecture’s intangible folk cultural assets.

In the Kamameguri no Mai, a lion stirs hot water in a kettle with a bundle of bamboo,
then showers it over worshippers to ward off bad luck and help them stay healthy for the year.
