Lake Biwa Otsu Prince Hotel Renewal News vol.3 “Lobby Lounge Port NIO”

November 10th, 2017 Lobby Lounge Chatelaine has been renovated, and is now open with the new name of “Lobby Lounge Port NIO”. The new name has different meanings. One of them is “Nature / Infinity / Overlook”, to represent a lobby lounge where one can endlessly be immersed in the natural panorama of Biwa Lake. Another one is “鳰 (Nio),” the ancient Japanese name for the little grebe, a Shiga’s prefectural bird. Yet another is “Nionohama (Nio Coast),” the name of the coast upon which the Hotel is built.

This waterside lounge aims to create a relaxing, resort-like atmosphere for adults, with water-themed partitions and carpets, comfortable sofas, various art pieces from the local Karahashiyaki pottery, and the green big table, lit by the sunlight coming in from the seven-meter vault window facing Biwa Lake.

The menu, focusing on local products, includes breads and cakes for takeout, JAS certified organic vacuum brewed coffee, Lake Biwa Otsu Prince Hotel’s original herb teas, “funazushi rolls”, and more; and makes use of plates and bowls by the Karahashiyaki pottery.
