A 600m ropeway will take you from the shore of Lake Ashi, which is 723m above sea level, to the summit of Komagatake at an altitude of 1,327m in just 7 minutes. From the summit, you can see Lake Ashi, the outer rim of Hakone, and beyond that, Shizuoka Prefecture. You can also catch sight of Odawara, Shonan, Yokohama, and even Tokyo Tower and Tokyo Skytree on a clear day.
At the top of the mountain sits Hakone Mototsumiya, the inner shrine of Hakone Shrine, another popular spot of Hakone that is visited by many worshippers throughout the year.
Stargazing and nightview tours are organized from fall to winter each year. On clear nights, you can enjoy not only the starry sky but also magnificent night views of the surroundings.
