Meigetsu-in Temple
Meigetsu-in Temple is known not only in Kamakura, but also all over Japan as the “Temple of Hydrangeas”.
In addition to the hydrangeas planted around the temple grounds,
visitors can also enjoy one of the most beautiful displays of autumn leaves in North Kamakura.
From the “Satori no Mado” (Window of Enlightenment) visitors are treated to scenery that
looks just like a picture mounted in a circular frame and there are often long queues of people waiting to take photographs.
The garden at the back of the temple is open to the public when the iris are in flower and during autumn when the autumn leaves are at their best. An additional fee is required to view the gardens.
